Bruce Highway (Gin Gin to Benaraby), improve safety, construct overtaking lane and wide centre line treatment
Safety improvements are being delivered on the Bruce Highway south of Miriam Vale between Charnwood Road and Fairbairn Flats.
The project includes installing about 12km of wide centre line treatment, upgrading intersections at Logan Road and McAuliffe Road, constructing a new overtaking lane near Forestry Road and installing safety barriers.
These improvements will deliver safety benefits for all motorists who use this section of the Bruce Highway and ensure this key route can cater for future traffic growth.
The project will improve safety for all road users, improve travel times, journey reliability and increase regional connectivity and economic growth.
The project includes 3 packages of work:
- Package 1—upgrades between Charnwood Road and Palm Creek
- Package 2—upgrades between Palm Creek and Fairbairn Flats
- Package 3—upgrades at Granite Creek
This project was identified as part of the program of works to reduce the number of crashes on the Bruce Highway.

This package is fully funded by the Australian Government ($11.748 million) – Bruce Highway Upgrade Program – Black Spots, Rest Areas and Safety Upgrades.
Package 3: Granite Creek Investment ID 1830878
This package is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($6.2 million) Queensland Government ($1.5 million) – Targeted Road Safety Program.
