The Bruce Highway and Wide Bay Highway intersection has been upgraded to install a roundabout at the intersection. Additional roadside improvements were also completed along the Bruce Highway between Meadows Lane and the Wide Bay Highway and upgrades at the Spring Valley Road intersections.
Bruce Highway (Maryborough – Gin Gin), various locations including Wongi to Nulla Flats, improve safety
Work started in early 2022 to upgrade road safety along a 16km section of the Bruce Highway from Torbanlea to north of Howard.
The department is improving road safety and reducing the potential for rear-end crashes on the Bruce Highway through Torbanlea to north of Howard. Roadside treatments including guardrail and batter flattening will also be carried out in 6 sections on about 8km of the highway within a 16km stretch.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments on an 80:20 basis under the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program. In addition to the funds listed in QTRIP 2021-22 to 2024-25, a further $4.209 million has been provided by the Australian and Queensland governments for this project package.
