Bruce Highway—Plentiful Creek overtaking lane

We are delivering a $9.4 million package of works that will construct 2 new overtaking lanes north of Rockhampton, at Plentiful Creek. This project has been identified as part of the program of works to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on the Bruce Highway.

We are delivering a package of works that will provide critical safety benefits to motorists and ensure the highway can cater for future traffic growth. It will also improve driver safety by reducing driver frustration, improving overtaking opportunities and travel times and increasing freight efficiency and heavy vehicle management.

Key features of the upgrade works include: 

  • 2 new overtaking lanes at Plentiful Creek, both northbound and southbound  
  • widening the road formation to incorporate wide centre line treatment 
  • replacement of drainage structures 
  • signage replacement  
  • clear zone clearing to improve visibility and safety.
