Bruce Highway (Townsville-Ingham), Leichhardt Creek to Abergowrie Road, widen pavement and improve safety

Bruce Highway upgrades between Leichhardt Creek and Cassowary Creek (about 42km north of Townsville).

The project will improve safety on the Bruce Highway between Townsville and Ingham through pavement widening and the installation of wide centre line treatments.

These one-metre-wide separations between oncoming traffic lanes have been shown to greatly reduce the risk of head-on collisions.

Culverts underneath the Bruce Highway are also being extended as part of the works to accommodate the wider and safer pavement.
