Bruce Highway Upgrade Program—Calliope River to Mt Larcom safety works
The Bruce Highway between Calliope and Mt Larcom services local communities and is the main route for several industries supporting the broader Central Queensland region.
This project is being delivered as part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program to improve safety along priority sections of the highway.
This project will help reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on the Bruce Highway between Calliope and Mt Larcom. This will be achieved by installing a wide centre line treatment, applying audio tactile line marking to both the centre and edge lines, and removing roadside hazards.
Road-widening improvements will also be made to intersections including:
- Ferguson Road
- Koncina Road
- Mt Alma Road.
As well as providing important safety improvements, these upgrades will further future-proof the Bruce Highway for increasing traffic demands.
During construction, every effort will be made to minimise impacts to nearby landowners and motorists.
