Caboolture-Bribie Island Road, Old Toorbul Point Road to Saint Road

The department is undertaking detailed design for the duplication of Caboolture-Bribie Island Road between Old Toorbul Point Road and Saint Road, including signalisation of the Volz Road intersection.

The upgrade will improve safety, ease congestion and improve traffic flow for motorists travelling on Caboolture-Bribie Island Road. 

This project forms part of the Caboolture-Bribie Island Road Upgrade Program, which outlines the Queensland Government's long-term plan to upgrade the road to provide a 4-lane, median-divided cross section for the length of the corridor.

Key features

  • Duplicate the existing lanes between Old Toorbul Point Road to Saint Road from 2 to 4 lanes.
  • Signalise Volz Road/Browns Road intersection.
  • Install 2m-wide road shoulders.
  • Improve active transport, including wider shoulders marked with bike symbols and green paint marked bicycle symbols at conflict points.
  • Upgrade bus stops at Volz Road.
  • Install a U-turn facility at Volz Road and pedestrian crossing facilities.
  • Remove uncontrolled right-turn movements from Old Toorbul Point Road to east of Saint Road for motorist safety, except into Saint Road.
  • Modify Old Toorbul Point Road intersection to accommodate a U-turn facility for average-sized vehicles to turn east.
  • Clear vegetation to accommodate road widening.
  • Install new road surfacing between Old Toorbul Point Road and Volz Road and Browns Road intersection.

Australian Government funding contributions are subject to the outcomes of the Australian Government’s independent Strategic Review of its Infrastructure Investment Program.

The department is awaiting the outcomes of this review, in order to determine impacts on our jointly funded projects.
