Capricorn Highway (Duaringa - Emerald) and Ardurad Road, widen pavement and Blackwater - Rolleston Road, upgrade intersection

These projects will upgrade the Capricorn Highway and Ardurad Road intersection in Blackwater to improve safety for road and rail users.

The Capricorn Highway is a key freight route and supports a wide range of industries including agriculture, resources and mining. It plays an important role in connecting Rockhampton with central and western communities in Queensland.

The Capricorn Highway travels through Blackwater, where it intersects with Ardurad Road. The Aurizon rail line, which services the coal mining industry, also crosses Ardurad Road near the intersection.

Work will include the installation of traffic signals, widening the highway and providing protected right-turn lanes into Ardurad Road and Mackenzie Street.
