Carnarvon Highway Intersection Upgrades

The Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative will deliver targeted upgrades to the Carnarvon Highway and surrounding roads.

The Carnarvon Highway intersections with the Castlereagh Highway and Salmon Road are being upgraded as part of the Townsville to Roma Corridor Upgrade. Works will include improved intersection turn treatments and improvements to the approaches to the Carnarvon Highway.

Funding

These projects are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments on an 80:20 basis.

Current status

Construction at both intersections started on 27 January 2021. It is expected that construction will be completed by June 2021, weather and conditions permitting.
