Centenary Motorway planning, Australian Government funding commitment

The department is planning an upgrade of the Centenary Motorway between Darra and Toowong to meet the changed transport demands of the corridor. The updated motorway masterplan will improve safety, travel-time reliability and efficiency for all road users.

The Centenary Motorway is the main link between Queensland's fastest growing local government area (Ipswich) and Brisbane Central Business District (CBD). It also connects the Brisbane CBD to regional Queensland and the rest of Australia.

The motorway is planned to be upgraded in stages as funding becomes available. When completed, the fully upgraded motorway will cater for the transport demands along the corridor in the medium to long-term with upgrades focusing on safety, improving travel-times, and active transport facilities.

The first stage of the Centenary Motorway Upgrade is the upgrade of the Centenary Bridge at Jindalee. Main construction activities for the bridge are due to commence in 2023.
