Dawson Highway bridges strengthening and pavement widening project

We are strengthening bridges and widening 3km of road between Calliope and Biloela to improve freight efficiency on the Dawson Highway.

The $40 million Dawson Highway Timber Bridge Project, fully-funded by the Queensland Government, was completed under budget and ahead of schedule in early 2018. This project delivered regional freight efficiency improvements and flood immunity on the Dawson Highway.

The $14.2 million savings from this project was reinvested into the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2019-20 to 2022-23.

These works are part of the continuing improvement of the Dawson Highway to support regional growth and enable economic development.
