Isisford-Blackall Road, pavement rehabilitation

About 26km of high-priority sections of the Isisford-Blackall Road have been progressively rehabilitated to strengthen the road and improve its safety and efficiency.

The road is an important connector for rural communities and links far western Queensland with key markets including the Blackall saleyards.

Works were delivered via 3 separate projects with upgrades including rehabilitating the existing road pavement to extend the service life of the road while improving its rideability and carrying capacity.

Current status

Three projects were completed to improve the Isisford-Blackall Road.

Isisford-Blackall Road (Section 1), rehabilitate pavement

Construction started in October 2020 to rehabilitate about 9km of the road. Works were delivered by Blackall-Tambo Regional Council with completion in December 2020.

Isisford-Blackall Road, rehabilitate pavement

Construction started in November 2020 to rehabilitate nearly 8km of the road. Works were delivered by Longreach Regional Council with completion in August 2021.

Isisford-Blackall Road (Section 2), pavement rehabilitation

Construction commenced in April 2022 to rehabilitate more than 9.5km of the road. Works were delivered by Blackall-Tambo Regional Council with completion in May 2023.
