Kennedy Developmental Road—Winton–Boulia widening project: Package 2

We are widening about 5km of the Kennedy Developmental Road in central west Queensland.

The Kennedy Developmental Road forms part of the Outback Way, a 2800km route between Winton in Queensland and Laverton in Western Australia via Alice Springs and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in the Northern Territory.

Construction started in April 2020 with completion expected in mid-2021, weather permitting.

In 2016, the Australian Government announced the commitment to invest $100 million to upgrade targeted sections of the Outback Way. Works to be undertaken as part of this funding include safety and productivity improvements, such as road widening and sealing.

This project follows the completion of an additional 17km in widening works delivered to the Kennedy Developmental Road in early April 2020.
