Peachester Road and Old Gympie Road intersection upgrade

We have started work on a $5.5 million intersection upgrade, including installing traffic signals at Kilcoy-Beerwah Road (locally known as Peachester Road) and Old Gympie Road.

We will be improving the intersection safety and capacity by: 

  • installing traffic signals
  • widening the road to accommodate additional turning lanes
  • installing signalised pedestrian crossing facilities
  • undertaking approximately 1.5km of resurfacing works on Peachester Road from the Old Gympie Road intersection, to the east, through to the Blackbutt Street intersection.

  • Provision for B-Double truck movements at the intersection will be included as part of the upgrade design. However, permits for B-Double travel will continue to be based on an assessment of the entire route travelled.

Project update

Construction is now underway with works expected to be complete in mid-2021, weather and construction conditions permitting.
