Rockleigh - North Mackay Road (Sams Road): overlay and strengthening
The project will strengthen and resurface a section of Rockleigh-North Mackay Road (known locally as Sams Road), to provide a safer, smoother and more efficient road network.
Rockleigh-North Mackay Road is a state-controlled multi combination vehicle route that provides access to Mackay Harbour and serves as an access route to numerous residential properties.
A safe and efficient roadway is essential for all motorists and will better support major industries including, tourism, resources and agriculture.

The Australian and Queensland governments are partners in the delivery of the $415 million jointly funded Road Stimulus Package to deliver shovel-ready infrastructure projects and urgent road safety upgrades.

We are in the detailed design phase which includes signage development and plan refinement. Following the completion of this phase, we will seek to award the construction contract in March 2021, with works expected to start mid-2021.
