Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road safety upgrades

Planning to improve safety on Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road has been completed.

The community had their say to help identify opportunities for safety improvements that will reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury crashes on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road.

Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road is an important rural road in the Darling Downs, connecting agricultural communities with markets and services in Southern Queensland. 

Community feedback has been collated into a business case which prioritises a number of low cost, high benefit safety treatments to improve transport efficiency and reliability whilst supporting economic development in southern Queensland and the Darling Downs.

The business case will be used to apply for construction funding.

Funding

The Queensland Government has committed $250,000 through the Transport System Planning Program to develop a business case for key safety upgrades on the Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road.

Current status

The community, businesses, residents and road users were invited to provide feedback at our online consultation hub to help identify key safety issues and community priorities. Online consultation closed 31 March 2021. The business case was completed in December 2021.
