Torbanlea – Pialba Road, various locations, upgrade intersections and floodways
Work is underway on flood immunity and intersection upgrades along sections of Torbanlea – Pialba Road between Beelbi Creek and Takura.
The department is improving road safety and flood resilience for Hervey Bay and surrounding communities by upgrading Torbanlea – Pialba Road.

Key features
- Upgrades to 3 floodways, including a new 4-span bridge at Beelbi Creek to provide a flood immunity for a one-in-100-year flood event.
- Road safety improvements by realigning and widening sections of Torbanlea – Pialba Road.
- Intersection upgrades, including realignments and installing separated turn lanes to improve traffic flow and reduce the potential for rear-end crashes. Seven intersections will be upgraded at:
- Old Toogoom Road intersection
- Churchill Mine Road intersection
- Antill Road intersection
- Grabbes Road intersection
- Gear Road intersection
- Toogoom Cane Road intersection
- Sanctuary Hills Road intersection
- Simmos Road intersection.
