We are planning for the Townsville Eastern Access Rail Corridor (TEARC) project, a proposed 8.3km rail freight line connecting the North Coast rail line directly into the Port of Townsville.
Townsville State Development Area Planning
We are undertaking planning and business case development for improved freight access between the Port of Townsville and the Townsville State Development Area.
Declared in 2003, the 4,915-hectare Townsville State Development Area is a defined area of land dedicated for industrial development. The area supports economic development and job creation in a way that manages environmental, cultural and social issues as well as considering existing industry and surrounding infrastructure within the region.
The Townsville State Development Area Planning project will consider how heavy vehicles, including road trains, can access industry within the area via strategically located service roads connecting with the Townsville Port Access Road and Flinders Highway. This will improve access for industry, without impacting the Bruce Highway, improving road safety and freight efficiency.
