Sumners Road Interchange upgrade, Jamboree Heights

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has awarded the construction contract for the Sumners Road Interchange Upgrade. Construction began in late July 2019.

The interchange upgrade will focus on managing the local road approaches, vehicle queuing onto the motorway and providing new active transport opportunities.

Sumners Road Interchange, Jamboree Heights.

The Sumners Road Interchange Upgrade will deliver a number of road network benefits, including:

  • increasing traffic capacity through the interchange by providing more traffic lanes and reducing congestion
  • traffic signals to enable better traffic management and more reliable and efficient travel times
  • u-turn facilities giving motorists access to local businesses
  • safer facilities for pedestrians and people who ride bikes with shared pathways and on-road cycle lanes, dedicated crossing facilities and links to the surrounding local network and Centenary Motorway Bikeway.

The Queensland Government has committed $80 million to design and construct the Sumners Road Interchange Upgrade.
