Planning for the future
Planning for the future is a key priority to ensure Queensland's transport system connects people, places, goods and services. This presents many challenges and opportunities.
For example, as roads are also managed by local government our planning approach ensures that we work closely with local government. This gives an additional level of assurance to the community and industry about the future of entire road network.
We have a tiered approach to planning for roads:
-
Roads Connecting Queenslanders is our long-term strategic document. The document looks at a 10-year plus horizon and details our plan for the future, our road outcomes and how we will deliver our plan and achieve these outcomes.
- Our annual strategic plan provides strategic business priorities and objectives to meet the direction in Roads Connecting Queenslanders.
- Our Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program is a 5-year program of works and details projects and expenditure across Queensland.
Our planning approach ensures that the transport system contributes to the Queensland Government's priorities and ambitions for the state.
We also contribute to regional infrastructure plans and programs, including the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program.
