Property searches

A property search enables prospective purchasers of property to verify whether or not the department has, or may have, a land requirement regarding the property.

Prior to 1 August 2011, there were two processes for conducting a Transport and Main Roads search:

  • A roads search was completed on form M831 and was conducted against the state-controlled roads.
  • A non-roads search was completed electronically against railways, busways, cycleways, future passenger transport corridors and airports.

From 1 August 2011, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has combined the property search service and a single property search will be completed electronically against all transport projects.

From this date, all transport and road property searches must be conducted through one of the approved service providers listed below.
