Pedestrians and walking

Walking is an everyday activity for most people. Walking is a means of sustainable transport that has many benefits for individuals and the community.

Safety

Walking, even recreational walking, involves mixing with other pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Pedestrians need to be aware of their rights and responsibilities as road users and walk with care to ensure their safety. Other road users also need to be aware of their responsibilities in sharing the road with pedestrians.

Easy Steps

The Easy Steps package has been released and is available for download.

You can also download the Pedestrian Safety and Accessibility Audit Tools, provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
