Caloundra Road, Kawana Way Link Road and Bells Creek Arterial Road intersection

The Queensland Government is progressing with a major upgrade of the Caloundra Road, Kawana Way Link Road, and Bells Creek Arterial Road intersection to deliver significant congestion relief and safety improvements for the Sunshine Coast region.

Planning for the intersection upgrade reached a key milestone in mid-2025 with the completion of the business case.

Key features of the upgrade

  • Construction of new north-south bridges over Caloundra Road, connecting Kawana Way Link Road to Bells Creek Arterial Road, ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow.
  • Addition of dedicated turning lanes on Caloundra Road at both new ramp intersections
