e-Mobility Parking Plan summary

The e-mobility Parking Plan sets out a clear approach for improving parking for e-mobility devices such as e-scooters and e-bikes, in Queensland. The solutions proposed are designed to be simple to implement and comply with. Although the solutions can be applied consistently throughout Queensland, different solutions are proposed depending on the environment. This may look slightly different in urban, high-density environments and suburban, low-density environments.

Timeframes

The plan includes actions across 2 distinct phases, a short-term trial and discovery phase, and a longer-term standardisation phase.

These actions focus on:

  • solutions such as the design and installation of designated e-mobility parking areas / e-mobility parking hubs
  • reporting poor parking
  • communication and education
  • potential regulation.

Consultation

The e-mobility parking working group has collaborated to develop solutions to address e-mobility parking issues. This plan represents a collective agreement by the working group to improving e-mobility parking in Queensland. The working group will play an important ongoing role in delivering the actions contained in the plan.

Reflective of the shared responsibility for e-mobility parking, the working group includes representatives from disability advocacy organisations, shared e-mobility providers, path user associations and advocacy groups, and a range of local and state government representatives with expertise spanning policy, planning and accessibility.
