Driver authorisation

A driver authorisation is required by drivers of motor vehicles used to provide a public passenger service, unless an exemption applies. A driver must hold a driver authorisation that authorises the holder for the kind of public passenger service being provided.

Operators of road-based public passenger services (other than a taxi service or booked hire service) are required to hold operator accreditation. Accredited operators are held accountable for complying with appropriate standards and must meet requirements relating to safety and service delivery.
