Vehicle Inspection Manuals

The vehicle inspection manuals are used by approved inspection stations when inspecting motor vehicles for the purposes of issuing a certificate of inspection or safety certificate. The manuals are also used by transport inspectors and police officers when determining if a vehicle is defective.

The current versions of the manuals for light and heavy vehicles that are used in Queensland are available.

Light vehicles

The Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual provides the industry with consistent criteria for light vehicle (up to 4.5t GVM) inspections.

The National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual for vehicles over 4.5t GVM is issued by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
