A BHSL is a licence that is required if you provide booked hire services to a customer in a licensed vehicle other than a taxi or limousine. The purpose of the licence is to ensure that vehicles providing booked hire services are suitable and safe. Example: David is a driver and receives bookings from authorised booking entity. David then provides a service to his customers, driving them from point A to B for a fare. His vehicle must therefore have a BHSL. Note: David must also hold a driver authorisation. |
A BEA is an authorisation that is required if you arrange bookings for customers in a licensed ride-booking, taxi or limousine vehicle. The authorisation ensures that booked hire services are provided safely by suitable industry participants. Example: Bookings R Us is a business that receives bookings from customers who want to travel from point A to B for a fare. Bookings R Us coordinates this service in vehicles, using BHSLs, taxi licences and limousine licences. The business must therefore obtain a BEA before operating in Queensland. |
