School Crossing Supervisor Scheme

The School Crossing Supervisor Scheme is a state-wide program introduced in 1984 to reduce the risk of death and injuries to children attending schools. A school crossing supervisor helps children to safely cross roads on their way to and from school.

About the role

• The role requires morning and afternoon shifts on the same day, in all weather conditions
• Crossing times vary at each school, with shifts up to 1 hour in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon during school terms
• Rostered shift times vary between schools
• Generous casual pay rate
• You must be at least 18 years old

Before you start

Successful applicants must:

• complete a pre-employment health assessment
• hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid blue card (you do not need a blue card to apply).

The Queensland Government pays for both the health assessment and blue card application.

To apply to become a school crossing supervisor, please complete an online expression of interest form or contact your local road safety advisor to request a hard copy form.
