Accessible electric vehicle charging

As electric vehicles grow in popularity across Queensland, we must ensure that all road users can use charging sites with ease. They must be inclusive and accessible.

To support this, the department has the Accessible Electric Vehicle Charging Guidelines. It aims to show Queenslanders how more inclusive, accessible public electric vehicle charging sites can be installed across the state.

The guidance provides recommendations on best practice approaches to site design, noting required compliance with:

  • relevant state or national standards
  • technical requirements
  • related project-specific criteria.

The guidance was developed through co-design. It drew on extensive consultation with Queenslanders with lived experience of disability.
