Program Highlights

In 2020–21 we completed:

  • restoration of disaster-damaged floodways on Gladstone – Monto Road, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • improvements and upgrades for Stage 2 of the Rockhampton road train access, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • a safety upgrade of the Bruce Highway at Terranova Drive intersection in Parkhurst, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • safety upgrades on Gladstone – Benaraby Road between Dalrymple Drive and the Bruce Highway intersection
  • widening and sealing the Bruce Highway between Gentle Annie Road and St Arnauds Creek, south of Rockhampton, funded by the Australian Government
  • widening and surfacing around 18 kilometres of the Bruce Highway north of Benaraby, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • construction of new overtaking lanes at Plentiful Creek on the Bruce Highway, north of Rockhampton, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • construction of six new overtaking lanes on the Capricorn Highway between Gracemere and Emerald, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • duplication of Philip Street in Gladstone to four lanes, between the Dawson Highway and Glenlyon Road, funded by the Australian Government
  • widening and strengthening of Dawson Highway between Moura Golf Club and Zamia Creek, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government as part of the COVID-19 economic recovery response
  • planning for an upgrade of the road access to Gladstone Port.

In 2021–22 we will: 

  • complete duplication, from two to four lanes, of a section of the Capricorn Highway between Rockhampton and Gracemere, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • complete duplication, from two to four lanes, of the Bruce Highway Rockhampton Northern Access between Rockhampton – Yeppoon Road and Parkhurst, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • complete safety works on the Bruce Highway between Nielsen Avenue and Plentiful Creek, north of Rockhampton, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government
  • continue widening to four lanes and upgrading intersections along Gavial – Gracemere Road (Lawrie Street), as part of the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 economic recovery response
  • complete pavement strengthening of Rockhampton – Yeppoon Road, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government as part of the COVID-19 economic recovery response
  • complete the upgrade of three floodways on Gladstone – Monto Road, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government as part of the COVID-19 economic recovery response
  • commence construction for the upgrade of Rockhampton Yeppoon Road, jointly funded by the Australian Government and Queensland Government as part of the COVID-19 economic recovery response
  • continue progressive sealing on Cotherstone Road
  • continue progressive sealing on Fitzroy Developmental Road
  • commence construction on the Bruce Highway for the upgrade of Station Creek and Boyne River bridges
  • complete construction of the bridge and overflow replacement on Dawson Highway at Roundstone Creek
  • complete replacement of Banana Creek bridge on the Leichhardt Highway
  • complete widening of Callide Creek bridge on the Burnett Highway
  • complete pavement strengthening on the Carnarvon Highway as part of the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 economic recovery response.

Future Plans

We continue to plan for the future transport requirements of Fitzroy.

In 2021–22 key planning includes:

  • continue planning and preserving land for the construction of the Rockhampton Ring Road
  • continue planning for the upgrade of the Bruce Highway and Gladstone — Benaraby Road intersection
  • continue planning for the upgrade of the Bruce Highway and Gladstone — Mount Larcom Road intersection.
