Rego Easy Scheme

Transport and Main Roads operates the Rego Easy Scheme (also known as the Vehicle Registration Scheme) which allows approved Commercial Clients such as new and used motor dealers, auction houses, leasing companies, government departments and agencies to perform limited registration transactions on behalf of the department. The Rego Easy Scheme has three options: Easy Pay, Easy Plates and Easy Business. If a Commercial Client undertakes regular vehicle registration business with the department, one of these 3 flexible service options is likely to suit its business requirements.

Benefits

Rego Easy adds value to a business by:

  • increasing its ability to provide more services to customers including a faster and more complete registration service
  • reducing or eliminating, depending on the service option chosen, its need to do business in person with the department
  • enabling it to issue number plates and conduct pre-registration inspections
  • developing a client management relationship with the department.

Eligibility

Rego Easy is a service for an approved Commercial Client that is in Queensland or within close proximity of the Queensland border. Approved Commercial Clients must be a legal entity licenced under the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act 2000 (QLD).

Commercial Clients will need to choose one of the three Rego Easy service options: Easy Pay, Easy Plates or Easy Business. Applications are assessed on the Commercial Client’s ability to meet the entry criteria for its chosen service option. Business, company and credit history checks may be carried out during the assessment of applications.

Termination and exit requirements

Continued participation in the Rego Easy Scheme by an approved Commercial Client is subject to regular performance evaluations to ensure that the terms and conditions of the Rego Easy Scheme are being met. Performance monitoring by the department may include on-site inspections, evaluation reporting, transaction monitoring reports and reviewing customer complaints. Where an approved Commercial Client’s performance is deemed unsatisfactory, the department may issue a corrective action request. Failure to implement appropriate corrective action may result in termination of an approved Commercial Client from the Rego Easy Scheme.

An approved Commercial Client may voluntarily exit the Rego Easy Scheme at any time by advising the department in writing.

Easy Pay

Benefits

Approved Easy Pay clients are authorised to perform pre-registration inspections on compliant motor vehicles up to 4.5 tonne GVM, eliminating the need to present vehicles when lodging vehicle registration paperwork at a Transport and Main Roads customer service centre.

Payments are made by direct debit, eliminating the need to present a cheque when lodging registration paperwork.

Service fees

There is no service fee associated with this service option.

Entry requirements

Applications are assessed on a Commercial Client’s ability to meet the entry criteria for the Easy Pay service option. Business, company and credit history checks may be carried out. Applicants must transact in the sale of new or used motor vehicles and have had a history of transacting with Transport and Main Roads for at least 3 months.

Easy Plates

Benefits

Approved Easy Plates clients are authorised to hold and issue vehicle registration number plates and interim vehicle registration labels, eliminating the need to attend a TMR customer service centre prior to registering vehicles.

Approved Easy Plates clients also perform pre-registration inspections on compliant motor vehicles up to 4.5 tonne GVM.

Payments are made by direct debit, eliminating the need to present a cheque when lodging registration paperwork.

Service fees

Annual vehicle registration number plate delivery fees apply.

Entry requirements

Applications are assessed on a Commercial Client’s ability to meet the criteria for the Easy Plates service option. Business, company and credit history checks may be carried out. Applicants must transact in the sale of new or used motor vehicles and have been an Easy Pay client for at least 1 month. To enter the Easy Plates service option, Commercial Clients must transact a medium volume (approximately 10 per month) of vehicle registration transactions. An Accredited Heavy Vehicle Assessment Scheme (HVRAS) officer must be on site should a Commercial Client transact business in trailers with an ATM over 750kg.

Easy Business

Benefits

Approved Easy Business commercial clients are able to electronically process registration transactions for compliant motor vehicles up to 4.5 tonne GVM. They are also authorised to hold and issue vehicle registration number plates, interim vehicle registration labels and vehicle registration certificates as well as being able to perform pre-registration inspections on compliant vehicles up to 4.5 tonne GVM.

Payments are made by direct debit, eliminating the need to present a cheque when lodging registration paperwork.

Service fees

There are no departmental service fees for processing on line and vehicle registration number plate delivery fees are waived.

Approved Easy Business commercial clients require a personal computer with internet access as well as software and maintenance support from an Approved Service Provider (ASP). ASP service fees apply.

  • Pentana Solutions Pty Ltd
  • Ultimate Business Systems Pty Ltd

Entry requirements

Applications are assessed on a Commercial Client’s ability to meet the entry criteria for the Easy Business service option. Business, company and credit history checks may be carried out. Applicants who transact in the sale of used motor vehicles must have been an Easy Plates client for at least 1 month. To enter the Easy Plates service option, Commercial Clients must transact a high volume (approximately 25 per month) of vehicle registration transactions.

Approved Service Providers application process

The department currently has agreements in place with Approved Software Providers (ASP) which are valid for three years. Applications for prequalification as an ASP can be accepted prior to when the department is periodically scheduled to assess Easy Business Support Services. The success of an application does not guarantee that the prequalified applicant will be offered an agreement. Successful applicants are placed on the department's Register of Prequalified Applicants. After periodically assessing future requirements for Easy Business Support Services, the department may select from the Register those Prequalified Applicants with whom it desires to enter into an Agreement.
