Implementation: Adoption of the National Automated Access System (NAAS) for low loaders in Queensland

Preparing for the low loader vehicle implementation

NAAS is being implemented in Queensland for low loaders soon. From November 2026, road access for low loader vehicles operating outside of the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 2) and National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Mass Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 1) will be managed through the new regime implementation.

August 2026—NAAS preview stage for low loaders

Familiarise yourself with all the features of the NAAS, before it is officially launched.

November—Full adoption of NAAS for Queensland (low loader vehicles)

Applies to low loader vehicles operating outside of the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 2) and National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Mass Exemption Notice 2025 (No.1).

Steps to get ready

  1. Tune into the NAAS Preview for low loader vehicles Webinar on 7 August 2026
  2. Participate in the NAAS preview stage (August 2026)
    • Familiarise yourself with the NAAS platform and its functionalities.
    • Understand how the system will impact your operations.
  3. Review internal processes
    • Assess your current processes for managing access permits and notices.
    • Identify any changes needed to align with NAAS requirements.
  4. Provide feedback
    • Share your experiences during the preview stage to help refine the system before full implementation.
