Implementation: Adoption of the National Automated Access System (NAAS) for low loaders in Queensland

Preparing for the low loader vehicle implementation

NAAS is being implemented in Queensland for low loaders soon. From November 2026, road access for low loader vehicles operating outside of the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 2) and National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Mass Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 1) will be managed through the new regime implementation.

24 August 2026—NAAS preview stage for low loaders

Familiarise yourself with all the features of the NAAS, before it is officially launched.

November 2026 —Full adoption of NAAS for Queensland (low loader vehicles)

Applies to low loader vehicles operating outside of the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 2) and National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Mass Exemption Notice 2025 (No.1).

Getting ready for implementation

  1. Watch the NAAS preview webinar recording, held Friday 7 August
  2. Participate in the NAAS preview stage (24 August 2026)
    • Familiarise yourself with the NAAS platform and its functionalities.
    • Understand how the system will change your operations. You will be able to add your low loader vehicle fleet into the NAAS and build a library of vehicles codes in readiness for implementation in November 2026.
  3. Review internal processes
    • Assess your current processes for managing access permits and notices.
    • Identify any changes needed to align with NAAS requirements.
  4. Provide feedback
    • Share your experiences during the preview stage to help refine the system before full implementation.

Registration

Registration will not be required to access preview. Check back on 24 August 2026 for how to access the preview stage.

  • Online guides and webinars will be offered prior to the NAAS low loader vehicle preview and implementation stages.
  • Training and guides: Online tutorials and user guides will be available during the NAAS preview stage and when the system officially goes live in November.
  • Webinars: Provides useful information for preview and implementation stages

The implementation applies to low loader vehicles operating outside of the National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 2) and National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Exemption Notice 2025 (No. 1).
