Native title

As a government agency, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) must comply with the requirements of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). TMR does this by using the Queensland Government native title work procedures (NTWP), which are produced and administered by the Department of Resources.

The NTWP are used by all Queensland Government departments and agencies to ensure native title is properly addressed before undertaking land and resource dealings. It is therefore important that for every land and resource dealing TMR carries out a native title assessment in accordance with the NTWP.
