Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early career programs
We are committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to build their knowledge and skills in delivering better transport solutions for Queensland, and help shape their own futures.
Due to the nature of our work, and the fact that delivery occurs in many regional and remote areas of Queensland, the department is well-placed to offer local employment based on Country.
Our current First Nations programs
We have a range of early career pathways aimed at providing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to gain practical on the job work experience whilst still studying.
School-based trainee program
We are offering 2-year school-based traineeships to students who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, enrolled and attending a registered school.
Tertiary scholarship program
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tertiary scholarships financially assist eligible students who are undertaking an undergraduate degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering related qualifications.
Business Administration traineeship program
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander 2-year traineeship program provides practical on the job experience while undertaking a Certificate III in Business. The program offers the opportunity for ongoing employment with us upon successful completion of your certificate.
