Internships
A Transport and Main Roads internship offers you employment while you complete your studies. As an intern with us, you'll develop critical technical skills through on-the-job project experiences.
You'll learn the role of the Queensland Government and how our work benefits the people of Queensland and their communities.
Our interns gain first-hand experiences on real-life projects.
By joining us you will apply the technical and professional skills you are learning to give you a head start in your career while helping the department deliver better transport solutions for Queensland.

Internships roles
We offer internships in:
- engineering (must be a relevant tertiary qualification that is accredited under the Washington Accord), including:
- civil
- mechatronic
- electrical
- project management
- planning
- business
Our roles are located across metro and regional Queensland.
Am I eligible to apply?
Each intake will vary depending on business requirements at the time.
To be eligible for an internship with us, you must be:
- currently in their second-to-last or final year of undergraduate study
- an Australian citizen or reside in Australia and have current work rights in Australia.
