Fixing the Bruce Highway

The Bruce Highway is Queensland’s most vital transport route, stretching 1,671.3km from Brisbane to Cairns. It connects our communities and families, while supporting businesses and essential freight movements.

The Queensland Government is fixing the Bruce Highway—delivering more than 80 projects up and down the coast to make our roads safer, more reliable, and more flood resilient.

With an ongoing focus on building a better Bruce Highway, significant work in recent years has created a vision, plan, and delivery program to ensure the highway is well positioned to receive the right investment in the right areas at the right time.

These upgrades are jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government under a long-term partnership to improve safety, reliability, and flood resilience along the highway.

While we deliver these upgrades—please take care, drive to the conditions, and get home safely. For information on road closures, hazards, traffic alerts, and condition updates visit QLDTraffic.
