Managing air quality

Some transport activities can affect air quality. Construction works may create dust, and vehicles produce emissions as they travel on the transport network.

We work with contractors and delivery partners to identify potential impacts and take practical steps to minimise them. Activities may include air quality monitoring, dust suppression and other measures to protect nearby communities and environmental values.

In some situations (for example tunnel operation) transport infrastructure is subject to specific air quality requirements. These are considered during planning, design, construction and operation to meet legal obligations and manage impacts.

Reducing transport emissions

While transport keeps Queensland connected, it also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.

We support a cleaner atmosphere by investing in public transport, supporting active transport options, improving network efficiency and facilitating the transition to cleaner transport technologies. These initiatives help to reduce emissions while maintaining safe and efficient transport connections across the state.
