Priority Cycle Route Improvement Plan guidelines

The Priority Cycle Route Improvement Plan guidelines and associated case studies provide a robust framework for developing a coordinated plan for complete cycle routes.

They cover all stages in the project life cycle up to, but not including, business case. Concept designs are a key output of the process.

Priority cycle routes are the highest priority links in the Queensland Principal Cycle Network. They are identified in Priority Route Maps which are published as an addendum to the Queensland Principal Cycle Network.

Priority cycle routes are generally 3-5km in length – a comfortable distance to ride a bike. A Priority Cycle Route Improvement Plan does not need to cover an entire route but it should complete sufficient length to connect to the main places people want to ride on the route.
