Far North Queensland public passenger service trial
A free pre-booked public passenger service trial is now available in Babinda, Dimbulah and Ravenshoe.
The trial will help community members connect to essential services and amenities in nearby regional centres:
- Babinda to Innisfail/Cairns and return
- Dimbulah to Mareeba and return
- Ravenshoe to Atherton and return
Each service runs 2 trips a day, 2 days a week, with operating days and times varying by location.
After booking, you’ll be picked up from your door or a convenient location at a scheduled time and taken to your nearest regional centre, where you can access shopping, healthcare and other services that may not be available locally. Both one-way and return trips can be booked.
You’ll need to pre-book to use the service by calling your local provider.
The trial uses wheelchair accessible vans designed to support a range of passenger needs, with capacity for up to 10 passengers.
Each service is managed locally to meet your community’s needs. Service features may change over time based on customer feedback and demand.
This is a 3 year trial, running until 30 June 2029.
