Far North Queensland public passenger service trial
In July 2026, a new free pre-booked public passenger service trial will be available in Babinda, Dimbulah, and Ravenshoe.
The trial will help connect you to essential services and amenities in nearby regional centres:
- Babinda with Innisfail
- Dimbulah with Mareeba
- Ravenshoe with Atherton
Each service will run two trips a day, two days a week, with operating days and times varying by location.
After booking, you’ll be picked up from your door at a scheduled time and taken to your nearest regional centre, where you can access shopping, healthcare and other services that may not be available locally. Both one-way and return trips can be booked.
You’ll need to pre-book to use the service by calling your local provider.
The trial will use wheelchair accessible vans designed to support a range of passenger needs, with capacity for up to 10 passengers.
Each service is managed locally to meet your community’s needs. Service features may change over time based on customer feedback and demand.
This is a three-year trial, running until 30 June 2029.
