Traffic Management Improvements at Roadworks Project
Recognising the need to improve the quality of traffic management at roadworks, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is delivering an important project tasked with the following objectives:
- Improving the safety of road workers (including traffic controllers)
- Delivering safe and reliable travel through worksites (with delays reduced as much as possible)
- Reducing excessive and incorrect roadwork signage
- Improving driver compliance with speed limits in roadwork sites
- Achieving the above objectives at an affordable cost.
Project focus
To deliver on the project objectives, the Traffic Management Improvements at Roadworks project is focused on the three 'E's of traffic management: Engineering, Enforcement and Education. The key actions in each of these areas are outlined below:
