Mooloolaba to Maroochydore cycleway

TMR and Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) have partnered to deliver the Mooloolaba to Maroochydore cycleway (M2M cycleway), which will provide a separated cycleway connecting Mooloolaba to Maroochydore.

A dedicated cycle facility (with a separated pathway) reduces the need for interaction between motorists and people riding bikes on roads, and between active transport users and pedestrians on the existing footpaths, improving safety, comfort, and travel time for all users.

The M2M cycleway will deliver a number of benefits including:

  • increased cycling trips
  • increased safety for bike riders, pedestrians and road users
  • improved health and lifestyle for the local community
  • reduced parking demand
  • reduced traffic demand
  • increased road safety
  • increased tourism opportunities.

The Queensland Government has allocated $6.7 million for the detailed design and delivery of a 1.2km section of the project on Alexandra Parade from Sixth Avenue, Maroochydore to Mary Street, Alexandra Headland (Stage 6).

The M2M cycleway will be constructed in stages as further funding becomes available.
