Ingham to Cardwell Range Planning Study

We are undertaking a study to find the best solution to improve the flood immunity of the Bruce Highway from South of Ingham to the Cardwell Range.

We investigated options for future highway corridors between 2008 and 2011 to find the best solution to improve the flood immunity of the Bruce Highway. The study also looked at how we can improve the safety and level of service of the Bruce Highway to accommodate current and future traffic needs.  Throughout the study, we engaged extensively with the community. We interviewed landowners and businesses. We held public displays and feedback sessions, and met the community, local government and elected representatives.

We conducted environmental and cultural heritage reviews and an economic impact assessment. We undertook extensive flood modelling, environmental studies, engineering and traffic assessments.

This helped us produced a preferred alignment, known as the Western 2A Deviation.
