Beenleigh–Redland Bay Road, California Creek Road to Mount Cotton Road upgrade, planning
The department has released a planning layout for the Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road (California Creek Road to Mount Cotton Road) upgrade.
Improvements being considered will support the growing needs of school and residential communities in the local area and provide critical connections future stages of the Coomera Connector.
This upgrade will provide critical connections future stages of the Coomera Connector and support future growth of the South East Queensland region.
The department is liaising with directly affected residents and businesses during the consultation phase and invites the community to have their say on the planning layout.

Key features
- Road widening to 4 lanes – opportunities for road widening and additional lanes along Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road will be investigated.
- Upgraded signalised intersections – a number of intersection upgrades have been identified and will support local road connections within the area.
- High quality off-road active transport path – more than 3km of new active transport infrastructure has been included in the planning to support pedestrians and bicycle riders.
- Provision for fauna passage – an opportunity exists to provide fauna passage along the Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road Upgrade alignment at California Creek. The bridge over California Creek will be designed to provide dry fauna passage and connection to both upstream and downstream habitats. Overhead fauna crossings (rope ladders) are also being investigated.

Current status
The preliminary evaluation for the Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road Upgrade is expected to be finalised by the end of 2024.
Any further detailed planning or construction would be subject to future funding approval.
Community consultation
The planning layout for Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road will be open for comment online from 2 September 2024 to 29 September 2024.
There will also be a community drop-in session held.
