Brisbane–Beenleigh Road, Loganlea Road to Waterford–Tamborine Road, business case

Planning has been completed for a possible future project on Brisbane–Beenleigh Road between Loganlea Road and Waterford–Tamborine Road at Waterford.

Brisbane–Beenleigh Road is a major road that carries more than 30,000 vehicles per day, with the section between Loganlea Road and Waterford–Tamborine Road carrying more than 44,000 vehicles per day.

The major traffic movements are from Waterford–Tamborine Road into Loganlea Road during morning peak time and reverse during the afternoon traffic peak period.

Planning has identified a preferred project to:

  • improve the safety and capacity of the Brisbane–Beenleigh Road intersections with Loganlea Road and Waterford–Tamborine Road
  • improve safety for active transport users.

There is currently no timing for design or construction of the proposed works, however, the business case will assist with securing funding for the next stages.

Benefits

Key features

The proposed future upgrade includes the following features:

  • reconfiguration of the Loganlea Road intersection to provide increased capacity of the left-turn from the north and right-turn from the east
  • reconfiguration of the Waterford–Tamborine Road intersection (integrating the interim upgrade currently under construction) providing increased capacity of the left-turn from the south and right-turn from the west
  • improved bike riding infrastructure through with the inclusion of bike riding lanes near the intersections of Loganlea Road and Waterford–Tamborine Road, and on this section of Brisbane–Beenleigh Road
  • provision of a footpath on the eastern side of Loganlea Road near the intersection and on the northern side of Brisbane–Beenleigh Road
