Bruce Highway (Brisbane-Gympie), Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue upgrade (Stage 1)
The department is delivering staged upgrades to manage increasing traffic demands on this section of the Bruce Highway. Stage 1 includes extended north-facing ramps from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.

Key features
Stage 1 will deliver:
- a new northbound entry ramp from Dohles Rocks Road to the Bruce Highway, which will extend to Anzac Avenue interchange exit ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
- a new southbound exit ramp from the Bruce Highway to Dohles Rocks Road, which will extend from Anzac Avenue interchange entry ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
- new ramp metering signals on the northbound entry ramp to manage traffic entering the highway
- upgrades to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new northbound entry ramp
- a new signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new southbound exit ramp
- modifications to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to close access to Goodrich Road East and allow for the new southbound exit ramp. Access to Goodrich Road East will be available via Silvereye Drive intersection with Dohles Rocks Road
- new noise barriers and upgrades to existing noise barriers.
Future stages will include:
- collector-distributor roads on both sides of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue
- upgrades to the Anzac Avenue interchange
- a shared pedestrian and bicycle path on the eastern side of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.
Detailed design and construction for future stages is not confirmed and is subject to further approvals and funding availability.

Current status
Main construction contract has been awarded. Early works for Stage 1 commenced in June 2024, with main construction to follow. Early works include:
- land preparation works
- building access tracks and service relocations for electricity, gas and telecommunications.
Key milestones
- May 2023: Business case complete.
- June 2024: Detailed design released to the community and early works started.
- July 2024: Contract Administration awarded.
Sustainability
The department incorporates social, environmental, and economic costs and benefits when assessing and delivering infrastructure projects. These broad elements of sustainability are implemented using the Infrastructure Sustainability Council Rating Tool. The Infrastructure Sustainability Council program incentivises various sustainable initiatives, including best practices pollution control, environmental protection, community engagement and resource use.
This project will pursue the achievement of an Infrastructure Sustainability Council rating of ‘Excellent’ across both design and construction.
