Bruce Highway (Brisbane-Gympie), Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue upgrade (Stage 1)

The department is delivering staged upgrades to manage increasing traffic demands on this section of the Bruce Highway. Stage 1 includes extended north-facing ramps from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.

Benefits

  • Increases capacity
  • Improves network efficiency
  • Increases traffic flow
  • Better road access
  • Contributes to economy
  • Contributes to regional growth

Key features

Stage 1 will deliver:

  • a new northbound entry ramp from Dohles Rocks Road to the Bruce Highway, which will extend to Anzac Avenue interchange exit ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
  • a new southbound exit ramp from the Bruce Highway to Dohles Rocks Road, which will extend from Anzac Avenue interchange entry ramp as an auxiliary lane on the highway
  • new ramp metering signals on the northbound entry ramp to manage traffic entering the highway
  • upgrades to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new northbound entry ramp
  • a new signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new southbound exit ramp
  • modifications to the existing signalised intersection on Dohles Rocks Road to close access to Goodrich Road East and allow for the new southbound exit ramp. Access to Goodrich Road East will be available via Silvereye Drive intersection with Dohles Rocks Road

Video Transcript

The Queensland Government has released a design layout for the first stage of the Bruce Highway, Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue upgrade.

Due to the size and complexity of the upgrade, it will be delivered in stages.

Stage 1 will deliver extended north-facing ramps as the first step towards managing increasing traffic demands on this section of the Bruce Highway and improving local connectivity, benefiting local commuters, freighters, and holiday makers.

A new northbound entry ramp will provide connectivity from Dohles Rocks Road to the Bruce Highway at Murrumba Downs.

The ramp will extend up to the Anzac Avenue interchange exit ramp as an auxiliary northbound lane on the Bruce Highway.

A new southbound exit ramp will provide connectivity from the Bruce Highway to Dohles Rocks Road.

The ramp will extend from the Anzac Avenue interchange entry ramp, as an auxiliary southbound lane on the Bruce Highway.

Stage 1 will also deliver:

  • a new signalised intersection at Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new southbound exit ramp,
  • upgrades to the existing signalised intersection at Dohles Rocks Road to allow for traffic movements at the new northbound entry ramp,
  • as well as new ramp metering signals on the northbound entry ramp to manage traffic entering the highway.

New noise barriers and upgrades to existing noise barriers will also be installed where required.

The existing signalised intersection at Dohles Rocks Road and Goodrich Road East will be modified to close access to Goodrich Road East to make way for the new southbound exit ramp. Access to Goodrich Road East will be available via the Silvereye Drive and Dohles Rocks Road intersection.

Future stages of the project will involve constructing collector-distributor roads on both sides of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue, as well as upgrades to the Anzac Avenue interchange and a new shared path on the eastern side of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.

Detailed design and construction for future stages is subject to further approvals and funding availability.
