Bruce Highway (Rockhampton-St Lawrence), various locations, upgrade bridges
The Bruce Highway is a critical link for Queensland, connecting coastal and regional communities from Cairns to Brisbane. Safety upgrades are currently underway at various locations, including Twelve Mile Creek bridge and John Murphy Bridge.
Twelve Mile Creek bridge, located 20km north of Rockhampton, and the John Murphy Bridge, located 30km north of Rockhampton, are critical for accommodating growing freight, tourist and local traffic.
These upgrades aim to improve the structural integrity of the bridges, increase traffic flow and enhance freight connectivity.
This will not only contribute to regional growth, but it will also reduce the need for future bridge maintenance and decrease the likelihood of future closures or traffic restrictions.
