The department has started planning for an off-road cycle link along approximately 3.5km of Caloundra Road.
The planning project has investigated a dedicated cycle link from Kawana Way Link Road, to the active transport infrastructure at the Bruce Highway.
The project would fill a missing link in the bicycle network and provide direct connections to existing active transport paths in the area including:
Planning will also consider future connections to Caloundra South via a future off-road link heading south on Bells Creek Arterial Road, Sunshine Coast Council’s future Honey Farm Road Sport and Recreation Precinct, and an opportunity for a future connection to the growth area of Palmview.
Funding for design and construction of the off-road cycle link will be considered in future funding rounds against other transport infrastructure priorities across the state.
This project is fully funded by the Queensland Government.

The department has identified a preferred alignment for the active transport path and is currently seeking feedback from all stakeholders and the community.
