The Cannon Hill Shopping Centre bus facility is proposed to be upgraded.

The project involves upgrading the existing bus facility to meet accessibility requirements in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

The upgrade will:

  • accommodate high-capacity 18m buses
  • modify the existing kiss ‘n’ ride facility to meet accessibility requirements
  • enhance safety for bus commuters with new lighting and CCTV equipment
  • improve operational efficiency at the bus facility, particularly during peak periods and special events
  • ensure compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002.

Funding

The Queensland Government has committed $1.685 million within the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program to undertake detailed design activities for the Cannon Hill Shopping Centre bus facility. Investment ID 1582984 Currently, the project is funded for the design phase only. Further funding is required to progress construction work.

Project timeline
  • Mid-2020: business case planning started and has now been completed.
  • Early 2021: design phase started. 
  • October to November 2022: community consultation.
  • Mid-2023: design phase completed.
Community consultation

Community consultation closed on 29 November 2022. The feedback provided will be reviewed and analysed by the project team and considered as part of the design process.
