Coomera train station, upgrade park 'n' ride
The park 'n' ride at Coomera train station is being upgraded.
The Coomera train station park 'n' ride upgrade will deliver a further 500 spaces (approximately) to the current parking facility, by expanding on 2 new blocks of land, and by reconfiguring 2 of the existing car parks.
The project is entering design phase to refine the concept design presented to the community during business case consultations in January 2021.
- Reduces peak hour congestion
- Increases car parks
- Contributes to regional growth
- Over 500 additional parking spaces.
- A new bus layover facility for 4 buses within the existing bus facility.
- New signalised access via Foxwell Road to the eastern carpark.
- Construction will be delivered in stages to minimise impact to commuters.
The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments on a 50:50 basis.
- Total investment
- $17 million
- Australian Government
- $8.5 million
- Queensland Government
- $8.5 million
Community consultation on the concept design for the Business Case of the upgrade was carried out during January 2021.
Consultation activities involved sending a newsletter to over 52,000 properties and mailboxes in the surrounding area, a Facebook post targeting people in the surrounding area, signage setup at the existing park 'n' ride and an email sent out to people subscribed to the TMR South Coast database. These all gave information to the recipient and asked for feedback via email, phone, mail or Facebook comment. The feedback was then collated and included in the business case report.
