Detailed planning is progressing for an interim safety upgrade and long-term solution for the Cunningham Highway and Ipswich–Rosewood Road intersection in Amberley.
Cunningham Highway Interchanges Upgrades – Ripley Road and Swanbank Road interchange, planning
Planning is underway for the upgrade of the Cunningham Highway between Dinmore and Mutdapilly, including Ripley Road and Swanbank Road interchanges.
The Cunningham Highway is part of the National Land Transport Network and a key corridor for freight and inter-regional traffic. The Department is developing a corridor masterplan for the upgrade of the highway between Dinmore and Mutdapilly. The corridor masterplan will address safety and capacity issues on this important transport link, including existing interchanges.

Key features
The Cunningham Highway (Dinmore to Mutdapilly) planning will develop a masterplan for the corridor and a strategy to sequence the corridor upgrade in stages as funding becomes available. This will include:
- upgrading the highway between Ripley and Willowbank to a motorway with grade-separated interchanges and service roads where required
- upgrading the existing interchanges between Dinmore and Ripley to improve cross-highway capacity, freight productivity and safety on interchange ramps
- upgrading the highway between Willowbank and Mutdapilly to improve capacity, safety and flood immunity
- planning which considers stageable solutions that allow for future connections.
Funding
The Australian Government and Queensland Government are jointly funding planning on the Cunningham Highway between Dinmore and Mutdapilly. This forms part of the Cunningham Highway Planning Package.
