Dinmore station park 'n' ride upgrade

A planning study is underway to upgrade and expand the northern side of the park 'n' ride at Dinmore station.

In response to the high demand for parking, there is an overflow into neighbouring streets, particularly on the northern side of the station. This demand is driven by major arterial roads, including the Warrego Highway, Cunningham Highway and Brisbane Road, and population growth in the surrounding suburbs.

There is currently a high demand for customer parking at Dinmore Station.

Park ‘n’ ride facilities play an important role in South East Queensland’s (SEQ) public transport system. They connect a diverse range of customers to public transport, can help reduce traffic congestion and improve access for those with mobility difficulties.

Benefits

  • Improves safety
  • Reduces peak hour congestion
  • Increases car parks
  • Accessibility
  • Better active transport

Key features

Key areas for investigation include:

  • planning for an expansion of park 'n' ride facilities at the northern side of Dinmore station
  • providing around 70 new spaces including designated accessible parking spaces on the northern side of the station
  • improved passenger amenities, experience, access and safety for all customers
  • improved access to bus and active transport facilities
  • improved safety for park 'n' ride customers and active transport users through new lighting and CCTV.

Funding

Planning for this project is fully funded by the Queensland Government under the Transport System Planning Program (TSPP). Further funding is required to progress to detailed design and construction.

Current status

This project is currently in planning.

As part of this project, the department is currently progressing planning and technical investigations and reports to support the development of a business case for upgrades to this park 'n' ride.

Park 'n' ride facilities are keeping South East Queensland's transport network moving by reducing the number of long-distance commuter car trips, easing traffic congestion and extending transport options to suburbs with limited bus or train access.
